To Pierce or Not To Pierce?

Last year Emeline wanted to get her ears pierced- she had been wearing clip-on earrings that really hurt her ears, but she wanted to wear them so she could look pretty. She's so prissy - so unlike me - but I love that about her. I was hesitant to let my 5 year old pierce her ears (going back to my traditional roots), but the conclusion I came to was that it shouldn't be a big deal. We'd talked of modesty, of taking care of our bodies. She had been well taught and able to make that decision. She got her ears pierced and has been diligent and careful of their care.
